We began producing KATSUOBUSHI (dried bonito) in 1996 with the cooperation of a manufacturer from Japan where KATSUOBUSHI originates and is produced in large quantities. North Sulawesi is known for its big catches of bonitos. The fresh and high-quality bonitos are the material for KATSUOBUSHI. We have been producing KATSUOBUSHI at our factory in Amurang, North Sulawesi.
We founded a new company NICHINDO MANADO SUISAN in 2002 and built a new and modern factory. We obtained the HACCP food safety certification in 2010. A new product called KEZURIBUSHI was launched in January 2013. KEZURIBUSHI is the thin shavings of the KATSUOBUSHI blocks. The new product is sold mainly in Jakarta.
KATSUOBUSHI plays a crucial role in Japanese cuisine. It is a versatile foodstuff potentially marketable in the global market. We will use the abundant bonito resource available in this part of the world and become a pioneer in marketing KATSUOBUSHI from Indonesia to all over the world.
